Posting here what I emailed Bruce:
Just wanted to let you know that thanks to what you mentioned earlier: That the problem affects the VNC password, but not the SSH password, I was able to find the problem. It is now corrected and will be in 2.02, which I'm submitting right now to Apple for review.
