Capitals not working in Linux wth Windows XP VMPlayer Guest

Postby nathanh » Tue Feb 08, 2011 10:20 pm

My System is Linux running vncserver display 88 with vmplayer running windows XP.

Capital Letters work in Linux but do not work in the Windows XP guest OS.

This works with all other VNC clients I have tried

What VNC server are you running in your Windows VM? Or are you accessing your Windows VM via the Linux VNC?

Please try selecting a different keyboard layout from under the Remoter config screen.

Raf.

Edit: You should be able to install a version of TightVNC or UltraVNC in the Windows VM, that should work correctly as well.

I am running the redhat vncserver on Linux and accessing the windows vm guest from there. This is the configuration I must use. I'll try another keyboard

Using the US Keyboard fixed my problem
Thanks

One other unrelated question. With my setup and using the trackpad mode the mouse pointer is remote when in the windows vm guest and local in Linux. Any way to make it local in windows too?

Happy to hear that resolved your keyboard problem!
I'm not sure I understand what you mean with remote and local regarding the mouse pointer. But regardless, all the RFB protocol supports is what Remoter does; if that generates un undesired behavior, there's nothing the VNC viewer can do. Maybe a server setting can help?
