keyboard setting

Postby paolo » Tue Apr 02, 2013 1:37 pm

I use Remoter on iPad to reach my Mac via VNC.
The Mac has an italian keyboard and I set Remoter to use "Direct" keyboard mode.
However Mac's keyboard and iPad's one are not alligned and a lot of special characters are different then they appear on iPad's keyboard.
How can I fix this issue?

Thanks, Paolo.

Hi Paolo,

Unfortunately, the italian rkl file has not been created as of right now. The rkl files are needed for connecting to some VNC servers when using an international character set (like the Mac's).
Please search the forums on how to create rkl files. Let me know if you need help.
If you are able to generate a good rkl, please let me know.

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry there is no Italian rkl available yet.

Hi Raf!
Thanks for your support. I found how to generate a new rkl file on your website: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=81

Now I only need a little bit of free time to edit it: I belive it will be a long and boring work... :?
Don't you know if there are any tricks to automate this operation?

Anyway, when I will have finished I'll send you the rkl file in order to include in next Remoter's releases.

Bye, Paolo.

Sorry, no tricks. But one thing to know: Only map keys that need mapping. You don't have to include every single key in the rkl file.
I'll be sure to credit you for your rkl in Remoter's credits. Please email me when you're done!

Thank you!,
Raf.

Hi. I try to begin this boring job. ;)
I though I could compare italian and US layout on my iPad. But if I change from IT to US my layout doesn't change!!!
Do I need a Mac's US Keyboard in order to compare to my iPad's one?

You need to compare the position of the keys on your italian keyboard and what keyboard corresponds physically on the US keyboard, and map to that.

Hope that helps!

BTW, a new version is getting finalized, it would be great to be able to include your update!

(Otherwise, extended keyboard support is also being added via RemoterFusion)
