Modifier-key row comes up under button bar

As of 3.4.1, the modifier-key row works fine in combination the keyboard, but if I try to get it to come up on its own, it slides up behind the button bar itself, so I can see it's there, but can't use it. iPad 2, haven't upgraded to 5.1 yet.

Does this happen with the "solid toolbar" option only?

With the solid toolbar, I don't see the modifier keys at all. With the transparent toolbar I "see" the keys behind the toolbar. But in both cases they just don't move up enough to clear the toolbar!

Thanks for the report glennmcdonald. Some new qs: does this happen when you have an external keyboard only? What button are you pressing when this is happening?
Is this on the iPad only?

No external keyboard. Just the iPad. I'm hitting the little 5-button icon for the modifier-key bar (control, tab, arrows, etc.). If I show the full keyboard, the modifier keys appear on top of it normally, the problem is only when I try to get the modifier keys by themselves. Same problem with both VNC connection to a Mac and SSH connection to a Linux box. All was fine before the new update.
