So now I turned my wi-fi on on my phone, am trying to connect, not working. I've restarted Fusion on the Mac twice now, and the connectivity test has timed out twice in a row. As you can see, the Internet connection from my computer is just fine.
Sigh.

Even a restart of the Mac did nothing for this. I'm very discouraged now.

Suddenly it works again this morning, and very well too; it connects even when the 3g network is weak. Very odd. Is there some setting in the router or the MAC setup I need to set that I haven't to make it more reliable?

That's strange. Not sure what can be causing the problem. If it happens again, send me an email to support AT rafsoftware DOT com, I'll take a look see what I find.

OK, here's the work-around if you can't get ultraVNC to send screen updates:

-Go into Remoter Config (in Remoter VNC), scroll down to "Other Settings"
-The second option there is "Connection Heartbeat": turn it ON.

The connection heartbeat will poll periodically the server to send screen updates. They're going to be slow but it should work, until we figure out why ultraVNC is not updating for you.

Hope this helps!,

Raf.

That works just fine for me.

As you say, it's a little on the slow side, but perfectly workable while I await the outcome of your investigation.

Thanks for your excellent support.

Hi Pamponi,

I wonder if you have the same problem that perplexed me for a while during the set up.

Everything was working fine, until I fired up one morning and couldn't connect.

I noticed that the IP addresses of the machines on my network had changed, so VNC wasn't recognising it's target.

If so, the solution is to set fixed IP address(es) instead of using DHCP

I was thinking that too, except that it was working after the router had been updated, which did indeed change the address of my machine.
Anyway, if it happens again I'll screenshot all my settings and send them. Thanks for the offer and all your help, raf.

Local IP addresses can change every time the machine is fired up, and also on expiry of the Client Lease Time set in the router (usually 24 hours by default, I believe) even if the machine is not turned off.

Keep an eye on that IP address!

Good luck with it.

Well we had a storm around here and my address changed during the day, probably because the internet connection got reset a few times (I noted the address from when I was having that problem). Now I'm getting connection refused when I try to restart the fusion software, and of course the app doesn't connect.
I tried renewing the lease in DHCP, as I see that as an option in the Network part of the System Preferences for the Mac, but no go.
So, how do I go about getting a fixed ip address for this machine?

Hmm. A little more detail: what I noted was the internal ip. It turns out there's a setting for manual for this, and I just set this and typed in the address it had last night in the hopes that would work. So far no though.
But on redoing the fusion stuff I notice now the external ip is different, and unfortunately I don't know what that might have been last night. Would that change or is it the internal that changes? This stuff is getting confusing. Well, more confusing.
