Access Denied

I am trying to connect to my MBP from my iPad2 (Remoter V 3.0.1) inside my local network. Error message: "Disconnected. Host: . . . Port . . . Access Denied. ScreenSharing/VNC didn't accept the supplied username / password combination. Do you want to reconnect?" I had zero problems for months with Remoter. Is there a known problem with V 3.0.1? I double-checked settings on both Remoter and MBP Screen Sharing and can't find the problem.

No. There is no known problem.
Have you upgraded to Lion?

Make sure you update your session in Remoter to use your Mac username as the VNC Username, and your Mac password, as the VNC password. You can disable the "VNC Password" feature in your Mac's screen sharing settings.

Yes, Lion.

Mac Username = VNC Username & Mac password = VNC password. Still can't get it to work. I deleted and recreated on the iPad2. No luck. I am at a loss.

OK, the next thing to make sure is that your user is authorized to connect.
Under "Screen Sharing" on the Mac, make sure "Allow access for" is set for "All users", or "Only these users", and it includes the user you want to connect to.

VNC Basic Settings:

Server Type: VNC
Name: XXXmacbookpro
VNC Hostname: IP address as displayed in Sys Prefs / Network
VNC Port: 5900
VNC Username: XXXX XXXX same as Sys Prefs / Sharing / Screen Sharing / Allow access for / Only these users = XXXX XXXX. Also tried "All Users".
VNC Password: Null same as Sys Prefs / Sharing / Screen Sharing / Computer Settings / VNC viewers . . . also Null. Also tried non-null password (same one for both Remoter and Screen Sharing).

Other troubleshooting steps taken: Deleted & recreated session on iPad2, rebooted iPad2, rebooted MBP, rebooted Airport Express.

I see you state that your username is a two-word name. This could be the problem. Please try using your Mac's username as displayed in the terminal

One other thing you can try:
-Go into system preferences - sharing. Disable "Screen Sharing" and "Remote Management" (if enabled).
-Get RemoterFusion (http://remoterfusion.rafsoftware.com). During installation it will set up screen sharing for you
-Open RemoterFusion, go to the "Setup" tab, the username you need to use is displayed under "Username".

You don't need to use RemoterFusion beyond this point, you could uninstall it. It's just a way to make sure screen sharing/remote management is setup right, and that you get the username.

I disabled SS and RM, downloaded RemoterFusion, deleted "old" session on iPad, used RemoterFusion to create new session. No luck with connection with SS enabled. What is Remoter Complete? Did I install this when I installed RemoterFusion? Do I need Remoter Complete?

Remoter Complete is an in-app purchase that includes all the current and future in-app purchases. Currently: RDP,SSH,Telnet,RemoterFusion.
You don't need it for what we're testing. No. Unless you want to use a RemoterFusion on your Mac, and it actually works for you.
Please send me an email with the RemoterFusion computerName that you used during registration. Maybe I can get more info to help you from the system's database.

I just run into a similar situation while helping a user. Turns out the solution was to manually enable "Observe" and "Control" under the user "Options..." in System Preferences - Sharing - Remote Management.
