Keyboard Not Working (Login Screen / Lion)

I bought Remoter last week to give it a try because the iOS VNC client I'd been using was broken by my OS X Lion upgrade. Remoter consistently connects and displays my Mac's login screen, and I can "click" in the password field to select it (I see the little ripples animation). But more often than not, trying to actually enter the password using the keyboard doesn't work.Sometimes it seems to ignore what I'm entering entirely, sometimes I seem to get three characters in and *then* get ignored. Sometimes I can eventually get in by repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting.

This happens on both my iPhone 4 and my original iPad, both iOS 4.3.3.
