Ubuntu connects but no screen refresh

I can connect and control the pointer and keyboard but the screen does not refresh. It only shows the desktop as it is on connection.

Try using Vino or tightvnc-server. Both work perfectly on Ubuntu. Although, tightvnc is faster.

I have this same issue. I tried first with vino which was the default vncserver of ubuntu and tightvnc. The screens on my iPad don't refresh for both setup. Do you have any other tips? I'm running Ubuntu server 11.04 64-bit.

I personally use tightvnc with my Ubuntu station all the time, and I've never encountered this problem. I'm not sure why it could be happening. How are you starting tightvnc? I start it simply using "vncserver :1 -geometry 1024x768". Then connect to it via port 5901.
