Total newb needs some basic guides.

Postby Warren » Sat Apr 23, 2011 6:32 am

Hi.

I'm trying to setup remoter and have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm trying to control a mac mini from my iPad gen1.

The mac mini will be holding all my iTunes music.

I'm also new to macs - the mini is my first ever mac.

Are there any basic guides that can get me on my way. The guide on the forum seem to only be for windows.

I'm running OSx 10.6

Regards.

I think I managed to set it up. What an awesome peice of software!!

I've just got a quick question though. Do I need to buy any of the in app extras?? I only need basic control of the mini. What do the paid for extras do??

Cheers.

The current extras
-SSH: Allows you to connect to SSH servers, or to your Mac via SSH. If you don't know what that is, you probably don't need it. It also allows you to connect to your computer via a secure connection, by tunneling the VNC session into an SSH tunnel. But again, it's best if you know about SSH.
-Telnet: Allows you to connect to Telnet servers. Similarly, I recommend this option only to people that actually need to connec to a telnet server
-Complete: gives you the above two, plus any new add-ons that come out in the future..

Thanks for that Raf.

Been using the software to control my mini in my home entertainment stand in the living room.

So far so good.

Great piece of software.

Cheers.
