VNC input lag with VMware Workstation 8 VM

I am using the Remoter VNC iPad client, connecting to a VMware Workstation 8 host running a single VM. Both the server and VM are running Windows 7 SP1. I have allocated 2GB or RAM and 2 CPU cores to the host VM.

Remoter VNC negotiates the initial connection with the host VM very quickly, however there is a 1 sec lag for each mouse click or keyboard entry. I have VMware tools installed on the host VM and I have tried all the settings within the Remoter app to no avail. I have also disabled all animations on the host VM.

Can anybody offer any insights here?

What kind of connection are you establishing to VMWare? Are you connecting to VMWare directly, or to the client OS? What OS is it? Are you using VNC or RDP?
