VNC connection hit or miss

Remoter 2.4.1. Mac iPad 2. OS up to date. Connecting to Mac Mini 2010 running Lion. Either connects immediately without problem or I get "Disconnected-Host: 'the right address for the mini" Port: 5900. Unable to connect to server. This usually indicates the computer is not reachable in the current network, etc etc". Happens without rhyme or reason. No parameters have been changed in the VNC. Any ideas? Thanks.

That is very strange. Could you try replacing your machine's hostname in Remoter's VNC Hostname field with your computer's IP address? I wonder if this is some sort of name resolution issue in your network.

Raf.

Thanks for your reply. Host name has always been the computer's IP address.

Connection has remained hit or miss. What is absolutely worse is that I cannot disconnect when Remoter gets stuck (most sessions). Must shut down iPad and restart. Annoying. Any help? Thanks.

jea51,
Sorry to hear that. For the next version I'm working on two things that might help in your case
1-Enhanced host name resolution. On top of the standard OS included resolution, I'm going to use data from bonjour/netbios (at the moment only used for machine discovery, not for resolution)
2-Make changes to disconnect, so that problem cases like yours are handled better.

I still don't fully understand why you have problems connecting, with the IP address? could you post a screenshot of your session? and also of the error you're getting (hold power, tap home to take a screenshot).

Thanks,
Raf.
