I know it can be hard to remember this sort of stuff when something just won't seem to work and we're at wits end. However, remoter is a pretty diverse and complex program so if possible try to keep this stuff in mind when posting with expectations for reasonable help in return:

    Basics

  • remoter version ( in app: settings -> help/about )
  • device remoter is installed on ( iPhone 3, iPad 1, etc )
  • iOS version ( on device: settings -> general -> about -> Version )

    Problem Specific

  • what type of session (telnet, ssh, etc)
  • server specifics (OSX, Linux, Windows, emulation, etc)
  • connection (LAN to LAN, WAN to LAN, UPnP, subnet, etc)
  • error message, odd screen (screen capture can be great help -- on device: press power + home button at the same time)
  • related settings for both session and global
  • reveal any other info you think may help

    Extra Mile

  • try to reproduce the problem, clarify if it's consistent or not if possible
  • orientation of screen/device (rotation) - try both landscape and portrait
  • check out whats known, fixed and planned in the bug tracking system

NOTE: The bug trac link above opens in the same browser window. If you wish to preserve the forum state use your browser feature(s) to open the link in a new window or tab -- often a right-click option.

ALSO!
If you're reporting a crash, please include the crash dump if possible.

(From: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3876 ... ogs-iphone)

When the iPhone is synchronized with iTunes, it copies all the crash logs onto the computer. Here are the locations where they are stored on various OSes:

Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/[DEVICE_NAME]

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\[DEVICE_NAME]

Windows Vista / 7: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[DEVICE_NAME]
