How to use with SecureVNCPlugin64.dsm?

Postby jalperin » Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:10 pm

Is there any way to use Remoter with a server which has implemented SecureVNCPlugin64.dsm? When I try to connect, I get an error message: Unknown authentication scheme from VNC server: 17, 114.

Thanks.

No, that authentication mechanism is not supported ATM. What VNC Server are you using?

On a related note, Remoter v1.9 will include in-app purchase support for VNC over SSH.

I'm using latest version of Ultra VNC. what's the best way to secure the server? I'm not very comfortable with the default 8 character password.

For now, you can use the "Request Password on Connect" feature in Remoter, click on Advanced in the session editor to enable this option.
I'll look into what it would take to add the UltraVNC secure mode for the future.

Thanks,

Does Remoter support the New MSLogon scheme in Ultra VNC? I'm getting another Unknown Authentication Scheme 17, 113 message.

Yes it does. Not sure why you're getting these errors. Is this a customized UltraVNC installation? Could you send me more details so I can try to recreate this?

I don't think I've done anything special. I'm using UltraVNC Win32 Server 1.0.9.5 (Build Nov 28 2010 00:39:17) on a Windows 7 x64 machine. It's installed as a service. On the Admin Properties page, I have Require MS Logon and New MS Logon both checked. In Configure MS Logon Groups, I have my local user selected with Full Control checked. Moreover, I can connect to this server using UltraVNC's client.

I'm sorry you're having trouble. I'll try to recreate this with that exact same version this morning. I'll also try to make a video on installing UltraVNC.

For some reason the annotations on the MSLogon video weren't working. Fixed now.
