Real remote access?

I am not sure if this app allows me to access my computer if I am in a different country. The app that I currently have only allows me to access my computer if I am in the same wifi network as my computer which kind of defies the purpose of the remote access. If I am at home, why will I need to go to my iPad to access my computer? I want an app that allows me to access it if I am in the library for example and my computer is at home. Can this app do that?

It can, but it involves you setting up your home Router correctly.
This app uses the VNC protocol. You will find a lot of info only on how to set up port forwarding for your router for VNC is you search correctly.

I personally use Remoter all the time while away from home to access my home server, and other machines at home. I have an Asus router with the "Tomato" firmware installed, and port forwarding is really simple.
