ARD / Mac Screen Sharing

ARD / Mac Screen Sharing

I'd like to make use of ARD (Apple Remote Desktop). This is much faster than VNC especially concerning higher resolution displays.

ARD is actually VNC + Apple's proprietaries extensions, which are not openly documented. I've asked Apple for details, and they basically said "no".
Until there is an open specification, this will be hard to integrate..

I understand that. Apple is not known to be very open with its standards and software.

Is it possible that you could integrate an option to remotely start a connection with the Mac OS builtin ScreenSharing.app ? That way we could still manage the remote Macs from within Remoter although we can still make use of ARD.

That's one way to do it. I've also been thinking about doing something similar with SSH and Telnet connections (use the terminal, but spawned from Remoter).
I'll probably do this for ScreenSharing based on a user selection in the Session Editor.

Thanks for the feedback and ideas!
